In 2019, after almost four decades as a renowned photographer in New York City, Andrew Moore moved his studio to the refurbished industrial Fuller Building in Kingston. The Covid pandemic hit the following year, curtailing his work and travels globally. While deepening his connection with the Hudson Valley, he focused his lens on his immediate surroundings. “I went back to nature and slowly my pandemic project became about taking stock, working closer to home, exploring and returning to something simpler, yet at the same time seeing the layers of history, the work of the Hudson River School painters, and the intersection of photography and painting,” Moore notes. The result of that deep plunge is Whiskey Point and Other Tales, his newest body of work now on view at Yancey Richardson Gallery from November 16th – January 6th.
